Congratulations to Our 2017 Scholarship Fund Winner!
It is with great pleasure that your scholarship committee announces our 2017 scholarship recipient, Amanda Gainer. Amanda is a wonderfully charming and sincere young lady. She is an outstanding student, a scholar athlete and president of the drama club. She is ranked number 13 in her class with over a 4.0 GPA. She is from a single parent home and has never let her Lupus disease stand in her way. Amanda hopes to attend Old Dominion University this fall and will major in early childhood education.
About the Norview ’63 “Building Bridges” Scholarship Fund
We are the only Norview class that offers scholarships to Norview Students.
Annually, we are able to raise about $8,000 for our scholarship fund with a combination of ticket sales for drawings for the use of beach houses on the Outer Banks and donations. The reunion committee thanks all of our classmates who have participated. You can be assured that your money is being awarded to students who deserve the scholarship, are academically qualified and are in need of financial aid.
Since our 45th reunion our class has raised over $80,000 and given $25,000 in scholarships. We have a goal of creating a permanent endowment of $63,000 in the name of Norview High School Class of 1963 by our 55th reunion. If we continue to award the $2,500 Scholarship each year while we increase our endowment to our goal, we need to raise another $40,000.

We grew up in a very special time and place. Because we have been so blessed, let’s give back. We would like for our class to leave the legacy of our “Building Bridges” scholarship. We hope that all of our classmates will share in the committee’s goal. It is for pride, it is because we care and it is for NORVIEW.
