What Past Winners Had To Say:

Ann Davis Hunt, Mary Basnight Donovan, Helen Barnes Sewell and I lived in the same neighborhood in high school and were fast friends.  I moved away and didn’t reconnect until our 30th reunion.  Since that reunion we have gotten together for a long weekend every single year.  So when the lottery for the house started, it was an opportunity to support the scholarship fund and win a chance to be together.  We made a pact—if one wins—we all go.  Last October we stayed in the house in Kill Devil Hills and had a ball.  We spent most of our time on the front porch enjoying the ocean view.  Shopping was good and convenient but the best part was the “dives”.  We had a lot of shrimp and beer at Hurricane Moe’s.  We didn’t eat in much but the place had a fully equipped kitchen, outside grill, laundry and hot tub—all the fun stuff for the beach.  The weather at that time of year was perfect—sunny and warm.  We hope to go again this year—we are keeping our fingers crossed!

Our Norview Class of 1963 "Building Bridges" Scholarship began in 2009, following our 45th reunion in the fall of 2008.  Each year, in addition to serving on the Scholarship Committee, I have sold and purchased the OBX drawing tickets. I did this in support of our exceptional scholarship recipients!

This year, I was thrilled and surprised to WIN and my first thought was to share the OBX week with classmates on the committee and a close friend.  With 8 bedrooms, the house could accommodate everyone able to accept the invitation and WE HAD A BLAST!  It was a fabulous week of shopping, sunbathing, eating, and playing games and cards every night!  We ate out a few times, but mostly enjoyed taking turns preparing the dinner meals.  I hope we can do it again!
