Mildred Bailey Furlough, 64, of the 300 block of Gallbush Rd., passed away on Saturday, May 23, 2009, in her home. Born in Norfolk, VA, to the late Charles H. and Evelyn Little Bailey, Mildred was retired from AT & T Telephone where she was an operator for 30 years. She was a member of Hickory United Methodist Church, the Telephone Pioneers Club, CWA and the Tidewater Photography Club. Mildred is survived by her beloved husband of 43 ½ years, William A. "Bill" Furlough; a daughter, Alyssa O'Neal of Suffolk, VA; a son, John A. Furlough and wife Melissa of Virginia Beach, VA; a half-sister, Margaret Caldwell of Fairfax, VA; and four grandchildren, Kathryn Brown, Wulfe O'Neal, Christian Furlough, and Caitlin Furlough. She was predeceased by a sister, Martha Toler. A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Thursday at Elmwood Cemetery with Rev. Thomas L. Mercer, Sr. officiating. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel.
