Mr. Charles W. "Bolo" Perdue
PRINCIPAL
Mr. Perdue grew up in Thomasville, North Carolina and graduated from Duke University in 1936. After graduating from Duke, he deferred a career in education to play briefly in the NFL for the New York Giants and the Brooklyn Dodgers. After serving in the Pacific in World War II, he began teaching and coaching at Norview High School in 1946 and, following service in the Korean War, he became principal of Norview in 1955.
Mr. Perdue brought Norview High School, where he was principal 27 years, throught the troubled period of desegregation. During the semester of 1958-59, Norview was one of three white high schools closed by the state's policy of Massive Resistance to desegregation. Mr. Perdue was principal until 1982, and passed away March 31, 1988. He was inducted into the Virginia Sports Hall of Fame in 1993.
