Scholarship Fund
Congratulations to Our 2018 Scholarship Fund Winner!
It is with great pleasure that your scholarship committee announces our 2018 scholarship recipients, Alyssa Mastrocco and Zyquan Bessant.  The committee decided this year to make two awards. Each was for $2,500. The first was our customary "Building Bridges Scholarship" and the second was in honor of our classmate, Dr. Patricia Turner, a member of the "The Norfolk Seventeen". Alyssa was given the "Turner" Scholarship.

Alyssa is an outstanding student, a varsity cheerleader, member of the swim team and the marching band. She will attend James Madison University this fall and study sports medicine.

Zyquan is captain of both the wrestling and football teams and president of Norview's Dodson Scholars program. He is hard working and a positive attitude. Zyquan plans to attend the College of William and Mary and major in accounting and will also plays on the Tribe’s football team.

About the Norview ’63 “Building Bridges” Scholarship Fund

We are the only Norview class that offers scholarships to Norview Students.

Annually, we are able to raise about $8,000 for our scholarship fund with a combination of ticket sales for drawings for the use of beach houses on the Outer Banks and donations.  The reunion committee thanks all of our classmates who have participated.  You can be assured that your money is being awarded to students who deserve the scholarship, are academically qualified and are in need of financial aid.

Since our 45th reunion our class has raised over $80,000 and given $25,000 in scholarships.  We have a goal of creating a permanent endowment of $63,000 in the name of Norview High School Class of 1963 by our 55th reunion.  If we continue to award the $2,500 Scholarship each year while we increase our endowment to our goal, we need to raise another $40,000.

We grew up in a very special time and place.  Because we have been so blessed, let’s give back.  We would like for our class to leave the legacy of our “Building Bridges” scholarship.  We hope that all of our classmates will share in the committee’s goal.  It is for pride, it is because we care and it is for NORVIEW.
