H. Lee Dowdy, Jr., 65, of the 900 block of Norview Avenue, died October 20, 2009, in his home. He was born in Norfolk, VA and was the son of the late Herman Dowdy, Sr., and Dorothy (Moore) Dowdy. Lee graduated from Norview High School and Old Dominion University, finishing with a B.A. in History. He was employed by C & P Telephone Company and later self-employed as an antique car dealer. He was an avid antique car, clock and watch collector. Herman is survived by four cousins, Rodger and David Dowdy, Vicky Baker and Elizabeth Ann Smith; uncles, John, Al, and Kenny Moore; and aunt, Margie (Moore) Jamison; and numerous cousins and friends. He wished to be remembered simply as a reliable friend. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 24, 2009, in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel by the Rev. Ernest L. Trueblood. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
