He was an assistant manager for Safeway and a Norfolk native. He was a member of Community Church of Norfolk.

Survivors include his wife, Diane W. Mason; two daughters, Renae Rice of Virginia Beach and Lori Ward of Chesapeake; son, Roy Nile Mason of Chesapeake; father, Nile Mason of Norfolk; mother, Nellie Mason of Norfolk; three sisters, Marcellene Howell of Social Circle, Ga., Norma Trainor of Westville, N.J., and Vera Dupuis of Jacksonville, Fla.; brother, Donald L. Mason of Rose Hill, Kansas; and a grandchild, Logan Mason Rice of Virginia Beach.



A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Smith and Williams Funeral Home, Norfolk Chapel. burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends in the funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m. today. Donations may be made to the Community Church of Norfolk.
