William G. ("Bill") Carr, 73, of Chesapeake passed away peacefully May 25, 2018. He was born February 9, 1945 in Wallace, North Carolina to William J. Carr and Florine Carr. He was predeceased by his father and daughter-in-law Susan B. Carr. Bill retired as a supervisor from the Virginia Beach Schools Transportation Department with 26 years of service. We will never see another school bus and not think of him. As Bill's friends and family can attest, he never knew a stranger and could always find someone to talk to...and was never at a loss for words. When they finished their conversation, Bill always knew where they were born and their birthday. Left to cherish his memory: loving wife of 52 years, Louise; sons David of Chesapeake and Paul of Kill Devil Hills, NC; 2 grandchildren, Rheagan and Ashton of Chesapeake; mother Flo Carr, sister Jackie Crabtree (John); nephews Michael, Jason, and Timmy Shepherd and their families in Camden, NC. A memorial service will be held at 7:00 pm Thursday, May 31, 2018 at Oman Funeral Home, 653 Cedar Road in Chesapeake. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service. The The Rev. Tom Mercer will officiate. The family would like to thank the staff of Sentara Hospice Services for the compassionate care they provided.
