North Carolina - Geraldine Neilsen Stevens, 71, Smithfield, NC, passed away surrounded by her family on Saturday, February 27, 2016 at SECU Hospice Home after a brief, brave and courageous battle with lung cancer. Geri dearly loved her family and especially loved their annual family vacations on Oak Island. Geri's smile was infectious, her generosity was profound, and her goodness was bountiful to all who knew her. She was a native of Norfolk, VA, and was the daughter of the late William Stacy Overby, and Rachel Daniels Overby. She was a graduate of Norview High School Class of 1963. She was a former civil servant for the U. S. Navy, and retired in 2004. Pat was a member of River Oak Baptist Church in Chesapeake, VA. Bettie Ann Pope Cantrell, 75, of Florence, passed away on Saturday, November 21, 2020.
Mrs. Cantrell was born in Portsmouth, VA, a daughter of the late Amelia L. House Pope and Robert Wilson Pope. She graduated from Norview High School in Norfolk, VA and from Chowan University in NC She worked in drafting with the Engineering Department of Bell South/AT&T for thirty-five years and also with H & R Block as a tax advisor for eighteen years. Mrs. Cantrell was a member of Grace Baptist Church. She loved traveling, exercising and her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Shelmon Bruce Cantrell.
